The remote audio unit has 8 balanced inputs on pluggable Phoenix terminal blocks. Each input has an independent +60 dB gain control, a -20 dB active PAD and +48 V phantom power.
The unit has 8 balanced outputs on Phoenix connectable terminal blocks with a nominal level of +4dBu. Two Ethernet DX connectors are for transporting digital audio and control signals. The Allen DX expander has a cascade connection to allow two units to be connected in series with a single cable to the dLive, Avantis, SQ or AHM mixing system. The Ethernet protocol provides control to the remote preamplifier, and all microphone preamplifiers are scene recallable from the digital mixing system. The units firmware is automatically updated when connected to the digital mixing system. The Allen & Heath DX audio expander has a robust steel chassis. The optional rackmount unit allows two units to be installed in a single rack unit. It also allows one half to be blacked out if only one unit is installed. The Allen & Heath DX88-P is equipped with an external power connection that accepts 12V DC, 3.3A, 39.6W max via a power supply supplied with the unit. The recommended operating temperature for the Allen & Heath DX remote audio expander is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius.
